I’ve been doing WP7 development and have found the time it takes to load a XAML file for editing very painful.  After reading some blogs, I found a setting that should be the default – use the “Source Code (Text) Editor”.  Steps below – the speed will shock you:

  1. Right-click on a XAML file in the Solution Explorer
  2. Select "Open With..."
  3. Select "Source Code (Text) Editor"
  4. Click on "Set as Default"
  5. Click OK
  6. You're done!

If you want to see the XAML designer, right click “View Designer”.  This loads fast too!  Change your default today!
