The Junk you put on Whiteboards goes into the Specs

I bought a whiteboard sometime ago, and it was one of the most productive acquisitions on that time frame. It is just an amazing albeit simple tool. When I am outside or traveling I use my blog to take down notes of ideas, but when I am in an office setting - I just write them on the whiteboard, since it is placed in most rooms.

As a software developer (or your choice of role, yes role) it is essential that you keep a list of articles to be developed and ideas for future work, and a whiteboard is perfect for that purpose. Moreover, it can also help you with to-do lists, reminders and idea brainstorming.  Remember, transition the ideas to a media which you can share with your tribe.

When a tribe connects to discuss a task, many roles are in a room, sharing.  To get synergy, ideas are often written on a whiteboard.  Given the variable of time, we have found that from discovery, requirements, design, architecture, the "junk" on the whiteboards is the information that goes into our specs.

Thank You for listening.
