Some Ants are more equal than others?

Researchers from the University of Bristol and the University of Toulouse studied nest-hunting in ant colonies.  Current ant based algorithms are based on Self-Organization assumptions and the assumption that ants follow the same behavior.  The study shows that there are a few well-informed individuals that alter their behavior according to their prior experience.

One must challenge the “given” and asks questions.  What other behaviors do they have?  How does this enhance performance even further?  Could this be used to improve ant based algorithms?

In our busy world, we take many “given”s for granted.  I guess it is easier.  Like ants, what would happen if we each researched a topic – how would our collective ideas change lives?
