SSIS 64-bit – Excel not in Import dropdown

When you attempt to use the 64-bit version of the SSIS import/export wizard, you won’t see Excel as an option.  After some long searches, thinking it was a install issue of Office… I found it is not supported.

Fire up the 32-bit version and you will see it.

If you only have Office 2010, you need to install 2007 office system driver for data connectivity components: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=7554f536-8c28-4598-9b72-ef94e038c891
