At some point in your tribes journey, even the best tribes may reach an area where it is utterly impossible to proceed.
That’s when the strength and fortitude of its leaders is most important. While everyone else wonders if failure is only steps away, the leader must take command and rally the tribe to safety.
If you’re the leader of the tribe, this is your moment to lead.
Leading a tribe in times of distress is a much different job than leading in times of prosperity. This is the time that separates the people who lead from those who simply manage. The members will quickly see just a manager and look for a leader.
The tribe wants to know their leader is alongside them in the mud and is slugging it out just like them. In times of crisis, every leader becomes a worker. Everyone needs to step up, no matter who they are. It shows you are willing to lead the fight.
Leading the fight also means rallying the members around a winning plan, one that puts everyone in a better position. A leader must provide hope and set a positive tone. We can get through this, we can make it over, we will survive.
Thank You for listening.
“A true leader can see beyond the horizon of his own lifetime. There will always be the greedy and the power mongers beckoning. A great leader hears only the voices of the people he represents and considers their future beyond his reign.” Lea Kelley
