“Evolutionary” Tribe Behavior
I would like to share with you something I observed this week. Our tribe was faced with a problem. This problem could have been a show stopper. The problem was shared among our members. Four, or more, distinct roles were required to solve this problem. With minimum communication, each gene (member) in the chromosome (tribe) evolved to solve the issue within the scope of their role. This complex problem, which typically I have witnessed, taking days to resolve, was solved in less than 5 minutes. While each member may not have realized their impact on the evaluation function, the resulting fitness was optimized. An optimization algorithm caught “in the wild”!
I will reflect on this “evolved” behavior in my research. I was fortunate enough to witness and be part of the tribe. Thank You for listening.
